Big Girl Potty!!!

Lindsey was 2 1/2 yesterday and after her bath....she used the big girl potty!!!! Jeff said it was only a couple tinkles, but she did it and she was so proud of herself. Talk about a milestone on her 2 1/2 birthday. I'm happy for her, but at the same time, I'm like, there goes my baby...she'll be getting dressed up for prom before I know it. :)
I, unfortunately, didn't witness her first potty experience cause I was at MNO. :)

Puzzles

Lindsey concentrating on her puzzle...little sis' helping out :)

So this summer has been the summer of puzzles for miss lindsey. She absolutely loves puzzles. We started her with the 24-piece puzzles and now she has a 40-piece and 60-piece that she does all by herself. I've also got a couple more puzzles stashed away in a goodie drawer when she gets tired of the ones she already has. :) Most of the puzzles came from Big Lots for 2 bucks - 2 dollars very well spent. :)

Diaper Disaster

This morning I heard Mackenzie babbling in her crib. She was squealing and talking...having a good time. That was at 7:15...so I just laid in bed and listened. At 7:30, I went to get her....she had taken OFF her diaper and poo was EVERYWHERe!!! In her hair, on the sheets, on the bumper...even on the floor. She was grinning from ear to ear. I ran to get the camera (instead of removing her from the dirty situation :)), to capture this unbelievable mess!!!! A lot of times, Mackenzie only wears a diaper to bed, but not anymore!!! She will be fully clothed so that diaper will not come off!!!!
That was the excitement for the morning...I was running around trying to get the house ready for Lindsey's playgroup as well. Ahhhh...oh well....everything has been washed and she's got a clean bed again.

Pump those legs

The girls and I went to the neighborhood park last night (that's an almost everyday activity) and Lindsey was pumping her legs and swinging all by herself!!! I got her started but then she kept herself going and she was even going higher higher!!! She was very proud of herself and I was too!!! It was such a gorgeous night and I wish I would have brought the new camera to get some shots.
Anyway, that was the big milestone of the day!!!!

Lindsey Lindsey Lindsey

Ok, I'm going to vent, so watch out.
Lindsey's, let's say. -spirit- has been shining through lately. She can be such a precious little girl, but man, when she's ornery, she's ORNERY!!!
The biggest problem that I'm having is sharing between the girls. If Mackenzie has something...Lindsey tries to snatch it...if Lindsey has something and Mackenzie touches it, Lindsey freaks out...I mean, screams!!!!
I've tried everything...I take baby out of the situation, I take away the toy so nobody gets to play with it, time out, I raise my voice (that's putting it mildly), etc. The other night, the girls were taking a bath together which they both enjoy and enjoy doing together - usually. Well, this night, Lindsey would not let Mackenzie have ANY toys after I had repeatedly asked her to share and warned her that she would go to timeout. So, I took Lindsey out of the tub, soaking wet, and put her in her bed for timeout. I then asked her if she was ready to share with her sister. She said yes and I put her back in the tub. The second I put her down, she picked up a toy and threw it at Mackenzie's FACE. I spanked her and put her back in timeout. It makes me so mad when Lindsey is mean to Mackenzie...it makes me think that she's going to grow up to be a bully or the mean girl...I want her to be nice to everyone. Mackenzie wasn't hurt and didn't even really care, but man, I cared. That's the worst example of Lindsey's behavior...it's not always like that....but lately, she has been testing testing testing. I just have to remind myself that she's 2 and she's probably jealous of little sis and wants all the attention for herself. she can be such a sweetie pie and fun-loving but she can also be super ornery. ahhhhh.....ok....i feel better now that i vented. :)
I think Lindsey misses her dad too. We still don't know for sure when he'll be home. And once school starts, things will get better too. I know Lindsey will love preschool. Last year at MDO, the first few times, she cried, but after that, she was waving bye to me - like, see ya later mama...i'm gonna go play. She loved her MDO...it was so good for all of us.
So, before church this morning, we were driving around 'cause I wanted Mackenzie to get a little nap. There were all these geese in the middle of the road. Lindsey said, "watch out geese...here comes the jeep!" too funny! she's so awesome - i need to focus on the good times.

Randomness

So Jeff got back from Michigan last Sunday night and then he found out on Wednesday that he had to go to Canada right away. He thought he'd be home on Monday, but I got a message from him saying he might have to stay longer!!! OH NO!!!! I know the girls miss him like crazy.
Thursday we had our pastor over for lunch...her name is Natalie and she is such a neat lady...really good with kids, easy to talk to, and her sermons always speak to me. Well, there is this dinner coming up for people who have been visitors of the church for a while and who are considering joining (that fits the girls and i perfectly). The only thing is, Jeff isn't interested in joining. I would like to have the girls be apart of a church, learn the Bible stories, participate in fun activities, etc., and then, when they're old enough, they can decide whether they want to continue. My parents let my brothers and I decide when we started high school if we wanted to keep going. Anyhoo, Natalie's visit really brightened our day - the girls and i both enjoyed her company.
Then Friday afternoon, my mom came over. She was here in Tulsa for a scrapbooking convention and one of her friends dropped her at the house. When the girls got up, we went shoe shopping - well - TRIED - to go shoe shopping, but Miss Lindsey was being a little rascal. So, at least I know what size she needs. We then went to Funtastic park and had a picnic. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. The girls swang a lot...Lindsey is starting to pump on her own a little bit. :) YEA!!! I got to spend some one-on-one time with Lindsey and we had such a good time...I was chasing her and we were going down slides, etc. Lindsey rarely gets alone time with us (me and Jeff), so I think once school starts we'll designate one night a week for Lindsey - either me or Jeff will do something with her all by herself so she gets extra attention. (thank you amy h for the idea!!!) i'm such a copycat...or i just have great friends with great ideas!!!! :)
Saturday morning papa came over on his new motorcycle to pick up nana. Then the girls and I went to Putt and Jump to meet our friends the Donnelly's. The girls had fun jumping and then we came back to our house for lunch. Then they all played outside in the sanbox - even Mackenzie. Did I mention how beautiful the weather is??? Soooo nice!!!! So here's some pics from today:

Wednesday to Wednesday

Last Wednesday night, my mom and I went to see Wicked at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. It was amazing!!! I can't imagine how much more spectacular it could be on Broadway. The singing, costumes, the story and how it tied in with the Wizard of Oz, the lighting...everything was just awesome. That was mom's birthday present from us.

Thursday was the business meeting and I almost crashed the Jeep in the parking lot, but thankfully no one was hurt and the Jeep wasn't either - Someone was looking out for us.

Friday, Lindsey went to Abbey's third birthday party at the splash pad. She did not want to play until she ate a cupcake!!! For the rest of the weekend, we did little projects around the house and had family time since Jeff was headed to Michigan for the whole week on business. I found some scrapbook paper to cover the letters - I like it better than the paint - more colorful.

Sunday, the girls and I drove to Arkansas to my parent's house. I needed a BREAK!!! Lately, I've been constantly refereeing the girls - well - mostly Lindsey. Lots of the time, Lindsey snatches toys away from Mackenzie and tells her, "NO, baby!" I know she's only 2 and jealousy is normal...I'm praying for patience.
Lindsey can be so sweet....and sour :)
Lindsey is having a great time with nana and papa and will probably come home Thursday morning so we can make it to playgroup. Mackenzie and I are just hanging out...she's such a cuddle bug. I'm enjoying the quiet, but I think Mack misses her sister though. Mackenzie has started playing coy. She'll tilt and bow her head to the side and bat her little eyes...my parents got a great picture of her on Sunday - she was 8 months!!!

Monday, Mackenzie and I drove home and for the past couple days, we've just been playing together and running errands. It's SO much easier to run here and there with only one child!!!
Yesterday, Tuesday, I went to the chiropractor 'cause my lower back has been hurting since Jeff and I showed Lindsey how to do the slip-n-slide. :) My back already feels better....going back today, which is Wednesday. So, there you have it - Wednesday to Wednesday.

Playroom curtains!!!!

Since Lindsey is at my parent's for a couple days, I was able to finish the curtains that my mother-in-law started. So, here they are - this material was on the clearance table at hancock's, and i thought it was too cute!!!

The curtains are just pulled together with ribbon
and i used a glue gun to stick on the butterflies.

Fishin'

Jeff's parents and nephew, Eliegh, came over yesterday and we had a great afternoon. Dorothy, Eliegh, Lindsey, and I went to the fabric store to pick out some backing for the playroom curtains. We stopped at McDonald's to get the kids a snack, and Lindsey fell asleep eating her icecream. :) So, we dropped off Eliegh at the house and drove around for a half hour to let Lindsey sleep...she was so excited to see her nana and papa and eliegh that there was no way she would've stayed asleep if we'd brought her in the house.
So, after a yummy dinner of chicken and cornbread, the whole family trekked down to the neighborhood pond with our fishing poles. The weather was absolutely gorgeous!!!! The little brim were biting like crazy so everyone got to catch lots of fish. Such a nice night.

Lindsey caught one!

Then this morning, Dorothy started the playroom curtains. I was the assistant :).....helping her cut and iron. The machine that she'd given me pooped out so I got out a cheap-o sewing machine i had bought years ago, but it worked. I have to sew one more curtain together and add the ribbon to make it look like it's bunched (i copied the idea from jodie - thanks!!!)
Everyone is napping now and I'm enjoying the quiet time.
