Memorial Weekend

What an awesome weekend we had.
Jeff painted Mackenzie's room a pretty lilac and we found white furniture at a garage sale for a steal! I still need to find a dresser.
We had a lot of family time - the four of us. And then on Monday, my parents and brother and his kids came over for a cookout. After we stuffed our faces, we went to the neighborhood pool. Everyone enjoyed themselves...it was a great weekend. Pics to come...

REady for the weekend....

So, my mom was here from Sunday- Wed morning...yeah!!! She's awesome. She helps me get things organized, like the garage sale that's coming up in a couple weeks. She cooks, cleans, does laundry and most importantly, gives the girls so much love. Jeff even hates to see her go. :)
Yesterday we went to the park for almost 2 hours with the moms club. And today we snuck into the park at Nottingham Estates...it's about a mile from our house, so I had a nice walk. Lindsey loved the park there and Mackenzie had her morning nap in the stroller. We had a nice time, but on the way back Lindsey was getting ornery. She kept trying to wake up her sister and I had to keep getting onto her. Finally, I made her get out of the stroller and walk which she was so mad about. I kept trying to explain that I didn't want her to wake up the baby - there's no reasoning with a 2-year-old. So now, they are both down for their afternoon nap!!! Yeah!! Jeff has four days off this weekend and hopefully we'll get a lot of stuff done around the house...like painting Mackenzie's room and buying furniture for her room too. She's sleeping in the pack-n-play in the master bedroom...the doctor got a kick out of that. He asked where she was sleeping and I said, "in the closet." :) It's a big walk-in closet, but I think she's ready for her own space.

We may go to Arkansas for one day...we'll see. Here's a few random pics from the past few days...

Mayfest

So after church, I tried to get Lindsey down for her nap earlier than usual because nana fulton was arriving around 1pm and I was hoping she'd get to sleep earlier and wake up earlier so we could get to Mayfest downtown. Lindsey was not having it!!! She cried for a while and then was jumping up and down on her bed...I heard a big thump....then serious crying. Needless to say, no nap was taken. So, when my mom arrived, we threw both girls in the car and headed downtown for Mayfest. The kidzone was alright...finger paints, tattoos, bubbles, etc., but Lindsey had the most fun playing in the fountain! It was a pretty sunny day and she played in the water for a good 1/2 hour. We then got a tenderloin sandwich and a funnel cake and watched some dance routines on the entertainment stage. It was nice to chill out on a blanket and stuff our faces with greasy food! Lindsey was getting into the dancing and of course, Mackenzie was eyeballing her sister's every move and laughing when her sister laughed.
So, it was a nice afternoon. Jeff was in charge of putting Lindsey to bed...he does most nights anyway, but tonight he is in there laying down with her. When I put her down for naps, she now pats her pillow and asks me to lay down with her. I would love to, but I do not want to get into that habit. She's been a great sleeper and I hoping that she won't expect us to lay down with her everyday/night. It kinds of irks me too 'cause I say 'no' to laying down with her and then Jeff does it...so I'm the bad guy and Jeff's the good guy. Ok, we just had a talk. We've agreed not to snuggle with her before bedtime or naps. :)

chuckles

Last night, Jeff and I and the girls were up in our "new playroom", formally the loft, and Lindsey was jumping around all over the place and laughing. Mackenzie was watching her sister very intently with big, bright eyes. All of a sudden Mackenzie just started belly laughing and chuckling. I think she loved watching her sister being silly. Then Lindsey realized that Mackenzie was laughing at her and started making Mackenzie laugh even more... we all had a great time...feels good to laugh that hard.
Jeff got up with Mackenzie in the night and gave her a bottle. That was the only time she woke up all night....YEA!!!! I think the formula is really helping her tummy feel more full and it's helping her sleep.
This morning we all went around to a bunch of garage sales!!! I found lots of toys for the girls...I found Lindsey a tool box from Home Depot so she can use the tools when daddy does. There was a really cool music/band/mirror toy that Mackenzie got. Oh, Jeff put up the new futon in the playroom and we also got a twin mattress set for Lindsey. Both girls have their new bedding, and now we just have to get their beds ready.
Everyone is napping right now...even Jeff. I'm going to lay down and read the new Jodi Picoult book from the library.

zoo

Since it wasn't raining today (18 days of rain), we went to the zoo with the Hoys. Lindsey and Kaylee love playing together and were pretty good, but got tired and hot at the end. Mackenzie napped and played in her carseat the whole time...such a good girl, 'cause I was busy chasing Lindsey all over the place!

Tonight is the second night that we've given Mack a bottle of formula before bed hoping that will help her sleep a little longer...

I think we've found a futon that we wanna get for the playroom. And Mack's bedding arrived today and it is so pretty and soft. I love it. Now we need to get a dresser and maybe a rocking chair.

Tuesday

Tuesday is Mother's Day Out for Lindsey. She loves her teachers and vice versa. I've been so pleased with the program, but I am torn about what to do next year. The Lutheran church has mdo on tues and wed. I don't know if Lindsey would enjoy back-to-back days...she will be attending noah's ark at the assembly of god church this summer on tues and thurs. i guess i'll see how that goes and then make a decision. when i picked her up she had on a white t-shirt with her classmates' hands all over it...so cute. the teachers at mdo are always doing some little craft or drawing to send home.

a great day

The girls and I did absolutely nothing today! We didn't go anywhere. We had fun playing in the new playroom and outside. It was awesome because both girls were in good spirits and both girls took great naps...and I got a little cat nap too. That's an awesome day to me - when everyone is happy.
Mackenzie wants to sit up so badly. She's starting to scoot on her tummy too...she's already scooting on her back.
Lindsey loves doing her little 25-piece puzzles. It's a good challenge for her, but not impossible and she feels really good when she finds a piece all on her own.

Mother's Day Weekend

What a great weekend we had.

Nana and Papa Fulton came over on Friday night and played with Lindsey and Mackenzie all night. The next morning, Lindsey made cookies with nana while my dad and I ran in a little 2 mile fun run for Trail Days. After that, we all went to the little miss and mister contest. Lindsey would NOT smile or wave or anything!!! I think she was overwhelmed by all the people. I think she was the most beautiful of course, but a little girl who smiled and waved at the judges won. :) Then, what did we do? Dad and Jeff went to Home Depot to get some supplies to work on getting more air into Mackenzie's room. Mom and I unwrapped the china and got to do some shopping too. We then were headed to the Cheesecake Factory, but that was crazy packed, so we ended up at the mall. Mom got me a sparkly necklace with the girls' and Jeff's birthstones...so cute...Mackenzie likes pulling at it. Lindsey got to play in the play area, mom and dad left, and we didn't get home until 9pm - that's way past Lindsey's bedtime.

For Mother's Day, I woke up to Lindsey saying Happy Mommy's Day. Awww...that was the best present ever. The girls got me some flowers and a nice card. Lindsey and I went to church and later in the day, we all went to the park. Jeff was the awesome organizer this weekend. He broke down the pool table so we can use the loft as the playroom. I ordered Mackenzie's nursery bedding...I can't wait 'til it gets here...then it'll be time to paint. So, the weekend was wonderful....I'm so thankful for my wonderful daughters and amazing husband...and awesome family and friends. :)

catching up

It's been a while, so I'll try to hit some highlights.
Last weekend we went to Nana and Papa Crowder's house. Lindsey had a blast playing with Eliegh and of course getting her way with nana and papa. :) We also got to see Crystal and Josh and have lunch at the mall.
It's been raining like crazy for a week.
Mackenzie seems like she's bothered a little by her acid reflux. That seems kind of weird since she's been taking her medicine regularly...maybe she needs to up her dose. She's so smily though and is trying to sit up. Mackenzie is on the move though. When she's on her back, it's like she does back hand springs to move...it's quite a site...but she's figured out that that's how she can move right now.
LIndsey is talking more and more. For a couple weeks when we sing "You Are My Sunshine", she'll squeal and repeat the last verse "sunshine away, sunshine away."
Last night Nana Fulton came to town to visit for one day...it's always so nice to have her visit. Lindsey started telling nana that she swims at the Y....then she kept repeating and squealing, "i swim at the Y, I smim at the Y." So today, nana and Lindsey swam while I worked out and Mackenzie hung out in the child watch. She was sleeping when I dropped her off, but the girls said she woke right up. Neither girl was/is a good sleeper as an infant.
Tomorrow pastor Natalie is coming over for lunch. She's such a nice lady. Oh, and Ryan and Heather and Riley spent the night on Sunday again. It was nice to see them again and they brought Jeff hog head cheese and boudin.
Ok, I need to pray that Mackenzie sleeps tonight.
